The Singapore Institute of International Affairs extends our heartiest congratulations to President Halimah Yacob. Our chairman, Associate Professor Simon Tay, who assisted Madam Halimah in his personal capacity as a nominator and a key campaign member, said: “While Madam Halimah is so well-known for her care and hard work at the grassroots level for the underprivileged in Singapore, she has represented the country well at international conferences. Madam Halimah will have no problems holding up Singapore’s flag at the highest level.”

As Singapore’s first female President and first Malay in 47 years to occupy the highest office of the land, we hope that under her leadership, Singapore will strengthen its unity and overcome the many challenges in a globalised world. Here’s wishing Madam Halimah a great success in her new role.
