Smallholders in ASEAN’s plantation sector are often seen as lacking capacity and, at times, motivation for embracing sustainable practices. Yet they are a vital part of the supply chain, accounting for as much as 40 percent of global output in some sectors. This panel will discuss the remaining barriers to higher sustainability standards for smallholders in ASEAN and the practical ways to support them on the ground.
This panel discussion was recorded at the 3rd Singapore Dialogue on Sustainable World Resources 2015, held at the Grand Ballroom of the Ritz-Carlton Millenia, Singapore on 15 April 2016. The Dialogue was organised by the Singapore Institute of International Affairs (SIIA).
