This panel discussion was recorded at the 3rd Singapore Dialogue on Sustainable World Resources 2015, held at the Grand Ballroom of the Ritz-Carlton Millenia, Singapore on 15 April 2016. The Dialogue was organised by the Singapore Institute of International Affairs (SIIA).
Indonesia recognizes the importance of a productive yet sustainable landscape and has committed to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 2020, increase land and forests security from fires and illegal logging, and restore and protect peatland. A sustainable landscape management approach by both governments and companies is critical following the 2015 haze crisis in Southeast Asia. Despite their “no burning” policies, major agribusiness companies were severely challenged to prevent fires on their concession lands. This panel will open with a keynote from Indonesia’s Peatland Restoration Agency followed by speakers sharing their approaches to sustainable land management and the challenges ahead.
Panel Participants:
Mr Nazir Foead, Head, Peatland Restoration Agency, Indonesia
Mr Anderson Tanoto, Director, Royal Golden Eagle
