Singapore will be signing a free trade agreement with the Pacific Alliance (comprising Chile, Columbia, Mexico and Peru) by the end of the year. Associate Professor Simon Tay, Chairman of the SIIA, spoke at the “Pacific Alliance and Singapore: Partners in Globalisation” seminar organised by the Pacific Alliance (PA) Embassies in Singapore, Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI), and the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKYSPP). He shared about regional efforts to push forth multilateral trade deals despite the wave of anti-globalisation and rise of protectionism and how Singapore can work with the Pacific Alliance.
