The SIIA’s New Horizons series roundtable discussion focused on trends and concerns emerging from Myanmar. Mr Sean Turnell, Special Economic Consultant to the State Counsellor, Myanmar shared his insights on Myanmar’s new reform plan while Mr Melvyn Pun, CEO, Yoma Strategic Holdings Ltd spoke about digitalisation as an emerging sector, and key areas where Singapore can play a role in Myanmar’s development.

During the subsequent closed-door discussion, some participants felt that Myanmar still remains a relatively small market as compared to others in the region and that infrastructure appears to be the industry that offers the most opportunities.

The roundtable discussion was moderated by Associate Professor Simon Tay, Chairman of the SIIA and observer of Myanmar whose latest book, “Shadows Across The Golden Land: Myanmar’s Opening, Foreign Influence and Investment”, is out in the bookstores.
