Free Trade Agreements have come under scrutiny in the recent decade. On 11 August 2021, Associate Professor Simon Tay, Chairman of the SIIA, spoke at the MTI Academy Speaker Series where he shared about the Politics of Trade Policy. Prof Tay highlighted how the role of trade has changed, outlined emerging issues such as environment and labour rights as trade becomes more politicised and how Singapore can continue to promote trade.
