How does the signing of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) free trade agreement affect European businesses? Associate Professor Simon Tay, Chairman of the SIIA, spoke at the Italy-ASEAN Association webinar, “RCEP and EU-China CAI: What’s in it for Italy and Europe” on Wednesday, 24 February 2021. At the webinar, he presented the view that the signing of the RCEP agreement is a significant milestone and a game changer, especially at a time of increased protectionism, for businesses with a presence in RCEP markets. The common and simplified rules of origin under the RCEP agreement are designed to facilitate the integration of regional value chains.
