In May last year, the SIIA launched the SIIA Haze Outlook report to understand the probability of severe transboundary haze in the region. It presented an initial risk assessment framework based on meteorological data, efforts by government, NGO, and private sector to mitigate the drivers of haze. The report explained that the occurrence of transboundary haze is dependent on three primary factors – weather, peat and people.
Ahead of the launch of this year’s edition of the SIIA Haze Outlook report, let us recap the factors impacting transboundary haze. The SIIA Haze Outlook 2020 has been supported by the Lee Foundation.
