The 13th ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand (AANZ) Dialogue hosted by Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia was held virtually yesterday, 7 December 2020. Associate Professor Simon Tay, Chairman, SIIA opened the session by highlighting ASEAN’s achievements as well as the challenges that remain in tackling the pandemic. During the panel discussion, Ms Jessica Wau, Assistant Director, ASEAN, SIIA, spoke on the impact of COVID-19 on ASEAN’s external relations and the role middle powers can play, in the face of growing tensions between US and China.
The AANZ Dialogue plays a key role as a strategic focused Track 2 mechanism for ASEAN and its Dialogue Partners from Oceania.
